EV Battery Health Check Questions and Answers

Explore what a traction-battery health result means, its limits and how it can help when buying or selling a supported EV or plug-in hybrid. Low-voltage battery assistance is a separate service.

Understanding the result

Is State of Health the same as the charge level?
No. State of Health describes battery condition; State of Charge describes how full it is now. A fully charged battery is not necessarily in the same condition as a new one. Read the health result in the context of the tested vehicle and the certificate’s explanation.
Who issues the battery certificate?
AVILOO issues the digital Battery Certificate after a successful test. Dual Action Roadside does not issue, edit or underwrite it. Read the result and any qualifications on the certificate itself.
Does the result predict remaining battery life?
No. The result describes battery condition at the time of testing. It does not predict remaining lifespan or guarantee future performance. Use it as one piece of information when assessing a vehicle, rather than a promise about how it will perform in future.

What the service covers

Does this check test or replace the low-voltage battery?
No. This service concerns the high-voltage traction battery on supported vehicles. Low-voltage battery jump starts and replacement enquiries are separate. Tell us which problem you are experiencing so that the appropriate service and vehicle compatibility can be discussed.
Is this a complete EV or high-voltage safety inspection?
No. It is a traction-battery health check, not a complete vehicle, mechanical or safety inspection, and it does not replace manufacturer diagnostics. The service does not include dismantling the battery, a physical battery inspection or a high-voltage safety inspection.
Can every EV or plug-in hybrid be tested?
No. Compatibility must be checked for the specific vehicle before an appointment is confirmed. Provide the registration, make, model and year, and say whether it is fully electric or a plug-in hybrid. A model’s general availability does not mean every version is supported.

Buying and selling

Can a buyer or seller arrange a check before a sale?
Yes, subject to vehicle compatibility, postcode, authorised access and appointment availability. A buyer needs the seller or dealer’s permission for access. Request the check before completing the purchase if you want the result to inform your decision. Submitting a request does not confirm the appointment; Ray must confirm it.
