Battery Replacement Questions and Answers

Find out why battery specification matters and what a replacement can and cannot resolve. Our battery assistance page has the current fitting arrangements and booking information.

Choosing a replacement

Can I choose a battery just because it fits the space?
No. Physical fit is only part of choosing a replacement. The battery must also suit the vehicle’s electrical requirements and battery management system. Check the specified battery type before buying; a different technology should not be substituted simply because its case fits.
Does a stop-start vehicle need a particular battery?
Stop-start vehicles need a battery suited to repeated starting and their electrical demands. AGM and EFB are common technologies for these systems. Follow the vehicle’s specified replacement requirements, including any battery registration procedure. Confirm support for your particular vehicle before arranging fitting.

After fitting

Does replacing the battery guarantee the problem will not return?
No. A replacement battery does not by itself resolve every reason for lost charge or a starting problem. If symptoms return, note any warning messages, recent changes and when the vehicle last started normally. Arrange further assessment rather than assuming another battery is needed.
What if a warning light stays on after fitting?
Check the vehicle handbook and seek advice before starting a journey with a warning light showing. Tell the person advising you which symbol or message is displayed and whether it appeared before or after the battery change. Do not assume a battery replacement makes every warning harmless.
What happens to the old battery?
Dual Action Roadside takes the replaced battery away for responsible recycling. Mention any damage or leakage when discussing the job so that its condition is known before attendance.
