Is the car in 'Park' or 'Neutral'?
It sounds simple, but modern automatics and even some manuals with sensors will not allow the engine to crank if the gear selector isn't exactly in Park (P) or Neutral (N). The Fix: Move the shifter out and firmly back into Park, then try again.
Check your Key Fob Battery
If your dashboard lights up but the car says "Key Not Detected" or simply doesn't react to the Start button, your key fob might be dead.
